Putting on our wigs might occasionally feel like a craft project. You can use wig adhesive, clips, liners, wig caps, wigs, extensions, and hair products on top of everything else. The process itself takes up even more time as we wash, style, attach, and touch up our wigs. And sometimes your cosplay also asks for you to wear a hat or a prop on top of your head.

The first step in wearing hats with wigs is to choose the fabric of the hat that will work best for you and your wig. Of course, you should pick a fabric and color that you need for the character, but also take the hat's weight into account. Like our 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙃𝙪 𝙏𝙖𝙤 𝙃𝙖𝙩 perfect for cosplay!

Be careful because your head may feel heated, uncomfortable, and weighted down if you are wearing a hat that seems too heavy. Find a hat that feels a little bit too big if you can, since this will allow you more area to sit the hat comfortably on top of your wig.

Make sure to use a size up. Since you have your hair underneath, plus the wig cap and the wig you will need a little bit more space for the hat. Also, you have to be careful not to overdo the size since it could look a little strange. Just follow your gut and try them on until you find the one that fits your head and face!

✦ 𝕎𝕚𝕘 𝔸𝕕𝕛𝕦𝕤𝕥𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥 ✦

If you start to feel like the hat is getting too big you can always try to cut the wig a little bit. You can try thinning out a thick wig so it fits your hat more naturally. Of course, this will make the wig only usable for this specific cosplay character so is understandable if you opt not to.

✦ 𝕌𝕤𝕖 𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕣 ℍ𝕒𝕥 ✦

When the hat is placed on gently and loose is not likely to be secure. But also you don't want to flatten your wonderful wig, so be careful not to pull the cap or hat down too firmly. Try alternate positions when trying to wear a hat over a wig. You can always try tilting the hat upwards and backward so that the front of your wig is visible. Use hairpins to firmly fasten the hat into place for added security.

You can always add a little bit of adhesive to make sure the hat stays in its place. But this method is the same as the one that included cutting. You will not be able to move the hat away and only use it on this cosplay wig.
